rock production: looking to hire someone to help me get to next level

Post by Mmichaelis » Sat Dec 04, 2021 8:45 am

Greetings everyone,

My rock production skills have plateaued and I'm in a rut. I've had some success getting deals for some instrumental cues, but I have yet to get a forward on a full song (the screener feedback is often "too demo sounding," "needs modern production," "dated instruments", etc). I feel like I've gone as far as I can on my own and I'm looking for someone to help me get to the next level. I understand there is a lot on YouTube or other resources, but I'm overwhelmed with sifting through all the perspectives and applying them to my own setup - what I'm hoping for is real person-to-person interaction. I listen to modern rock constantly and am always trying to replicate what I hear, but I feel like there is a basic knowledge gap on my part. Willing to pay for consultant time!

Here are some recent songs I've done:

https://open.spotify.com/album/3ccDzN2j ... IXpJNycWvQ

https://open.spotify.com/album/0g0KHFXb ... QljUk0HzTA

https://open.spotify.com/album/5gV5pKog ... EJbcOwj9vw

If any of you have the time and are willing, please reach out to matt.b.michaelis@gmail.com with your rates and/or other thoughts. Open to a variety of setup that may work for you - would love to work together on a song with someone too. Thanks for your consideration!

Matt - Great songs. Well written with good arrangements, lyrics and performance. I'd have to agree with the screeners though - these songs are not seeing their full potential. I'll send a private message.
