Romantic piano forward

Post by Onaginoffegin » Fri Jan 27, 2017 7:18 pm

The listing as I received it did not specify a length. So I originally composed a two-minute piece.
Then I decided to call TAXI just in case, and they told me the piece had to be three minutes.

And let me just say one thing, off-topic, about TAXI — and no, I not getting paid for this — every time I've ever called or emailed TAXI with a question or issue, they have been genuinely friendly and helpful.
Every time.
OK, that's my TAXI plug for the year.

Back to my piano piece — obviously I needed another minute of music. So I wondered what the arpeggiated left hand part would sound like without the melody. For me, it actually sounded pretty good on its own, so I used it to start the piece.
That wouldn't have occurred to me on a two-minute listing.

Hi Henry... interesting piece. At first, until the melody part came in and sort of 'tamed' the pace & cadence... it didn't hit me as particularly 'romantic'-sounding.
But - then it took off, in a good way. I think of Debussy as a great composer of romantic music.
There were some phrases in your piece that made me think of this romantic song: (so, that's a good thing).

Very nice work, Henry; always enjoy your playing.

LOL - nah, not really... just happened that we had a Debussy CD that became a favorite.
That is - unless you call liking The Everly Brothers as knowing my music, then... well, okay.

The Everly Brothers certainly count as knowing your music.
Great harmonies.
It also dates you, Peter.

I wouldn't have thought less of you if you HAD dated one of those guys, but yeah, I can see why you have a crush on her.
Great smile and looks good in black and white.
