Western without the countrySage brush Heroes © John WestwoodSagebrush heroes on the train ride homeSaddles in the rail yard and money all goneSweethearts waiting back at the ranchDreamin quietly 'bout lefty and pancho .Ate a lot of cattle thrown dustIf it weren’t for the leatherThey'd be ripped and cutLike their boots they look down at heel Sounds pretty glamorous but you need to be one to know how it feelschHome home on the rangeWhen they get there it sure will feel strange No nights on the plainsNo drowning in rainNo eating red dustNo doing the things that cowboys must40 days of rain and sweatcounting the head.Wondering how much each cowboy will get When the army came and bought the driveOff to town for a drink and a“feel alive’then they'reSagebrush heroes on the train ride homeSaddles in the rail yard and money all gonewith sweethearts waiting back at the ranchDreaming quietly 'bout lefty and pancho .chHome home on the rangeWhen they get there it sure will feel strange No nights on the plainsNo drowning in rainNo eating red dustNo doing the things that cowboys must

Sorry but when I see "home home on the range" I titter. Is it suppossed to be a humourous song because it comes across as a bit tongue in cheek. The chorus feels a bit like a lymric which adds to that comic effect.

Home home on the range was intended to be a little sardonic.J

Good lyric. Title sounds original although I'm not a big follower of this genre. The opening lines are strong. The structure is good. My only nit' would be the word hero. I recommend making the story about one individual as oppose to several. Make this individual live up to the word hero. This lyric will be better for it. Good start.....................................peace!

Thanks Oxe. There has been enough comment where and elsewhere to make me think about a rewrite.. altho at this point someone has offered to put it to music. So ill see what format it returns in before I do anything moreJ
