Samples of ambient noise?

Post by 53mph » Thu May 18, 2006 12:24 am

Hi,I'm doing the audio for a theatre piece in Italy and I'm collecting sounds and noises for the various scenes. It's going to be a very audio heavy theatre production and I need to play all the samples live.I've been site capturing the audio but there are some that I'm unable to get, such as gunshots and heavy work machinery.Does anyone know of any free sample sites that offer this kind of audio?Any help much obliged.Phil

You wouldn't happen to be willing to go out with a mic and capture some for me, would you? Remember to wear bright colours though so they don't mistake you for an animal!

Joking aside, 53, every sound effects library in the world has gunshots. You can also download them and everything else you need from various sfx sites. Just do an internet search.

53I don't know of any free sites personally, but sounddogs has a huge collection of just about any sfx and since you can audition everything and buy a la carte it's quite affordable...plus you can be sure they are all legal to use...matto

Thanks Nick and Matto,I wanted to ask because I have very little time on my hands these days and I thought I'd see if anyone could direct me straight to the source rather than me trawling through millions of useless websites before hitting gold.....you know what it's like I'm sure.I'll check out sounddogs Matto. There's a small budget for this thing so I might be able to squeeze some clearence money out of them. ThanksP
