SanFrancisco covers

Post by sgs4u » Mon Nov 17, 2008 9:19 am

I re-upped to Dispatch listings again today. A new listing caught my attention ... Quote:D081119JZJAZZ/SWING COVERS OF “I LEFT MY HEART IN SAN FRANCISCO are needed urgently by an Independent Record Label for a Compilation CD project that will be released by a Major Distributor. This company has signed dozens of TAXI writers for use on projects distributed by Sony/BMG, Universal, EMI, etc. This company needs great arrangements of this particular song and are really hoping to find a version with excellent vocals a la Tony Bennett. They are absolutely open to hearing alternate approaches to this song, with male or female vocals. But it should be noted that the Jazz/Swing approach will certainly capture the most attention, for this one. Performances need to be excellent and the recordings need to be Master Quality (great home recordings should be okay). No instrumentals, please! Please submit 1-3 songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than Noon PST on Wednesday, November 19, 2008. TAXI #D081119JZI'll let you know Thursday, if our version gets forwarded. It might be too slow @ 50bpm, but that's the same tempo that Tony used, in one recording we liked. Wish us luck! Still haven't got a clue how to link just the song, hehe. It's obviously called I Left My Heart in San Francisco. Here's my site. Have a listen, & enjoy. http://www.taxi.com/steveagilbert

Singer is Darcy Deutsch. We used to play in an 80's rock band together., & decided to change gears. hehe http://www.darcyalive.com/

Steve,I really liked this and I personally think it's swinging enough. It's the right tempo for the piece but maybe they want something a little more "up", although the piece wouldn't work as well IMO.I enjoyed the arrangement and the way the singer hits the word "home". The intonation on the note really makes that augmented chord work!!!Good luck!!!Mazz

Hi there SteveVery very nice...! I also submitted one - you can hear it at the link below...http://www.taximusic.com/hosting/home.p ... wannieboyI went for a more upbeat arrangement, and kept it simpler, mainly due to time limits.Richard
