Hi guys, spotted this today.
Good concise overview of copyrights as they relate to music production.
Worth a read in my opinion (especially for us newbies!).

Re: Short article about music copyrights
There's so much to this business to keep track of!
I'm so glad I went to Rally bc even though I didn't absorb but a small fraction of the information available, some of those small fractions were helpful.
For example, there was a session run by 2 label owners who clearly weren't stressing the details - they register copyrights for their songs in batches (after they've been released), and as near as I could tell they pretty much don't bother with meta-data at all.
Not sure if that's the "right way" or the "wrong way" to do it, but these guys are clearly successful at what they are doing, so I figure if that's good enough for them it's good enough for me.
Your mileage may vary, of course.
