SImple instrumental? Nicely done Richard. ANother forward. Lots of ideas sound like to my ears, but this is great. Off to go listen to some of the other folks that submitted now. Taxi composers rule!

Well, the review is in, and it was a very nice review! But it wasn't forwarded. That seems to happen a lot.
Dear Richard, I love that you really capture the "whimsical" feel (there is a moment - 1:00-1:08 - where I am reminded of the score from "The Goonies" which I love). I think you have some great elements here. The tone of the melody works well to create that "music box feel" and the strings add good depth. My concern here is that the melody is so persistent and driving with this consistent rhythm that it doesn't come off as feeling "simple" and may be distracting when paired to picture.
I guess I took the 16th-note arpeggiated style of the Bach just a bit too literally.

Darn.

Thank you for telling us dear Richard.

But your Track was so lovely indeed. $10.000 in the bin is not a good feeling, I know.

I was so displeased with my attempt that I composed a new Version called : "I should have imagined SIMPLICITY". Much better done than the first Version. But still very Abstract.

The Critique said : "Much too esoteric for this Listing", which put a smile on my face.

You may want to listen to it there:

It's strange. I think, for the most part, my music has gotten better over the last few years. But my percentage of forwards during the same period has gone from about 67% down to maybe 5%. And the reasons given, while having validity, often seem to allow for very little, if any, leeway in close calls, whereas in the past, we'd be given the benefit of the doubt. Clearly, something has changed fairly dramatically.

So for me personally, I think it's time to take a break from this particular process. I'm in enough libraries - thanks to Taxi! - that I can submit directly anytime the urge strikes. And if something I send isn't quite right, I'm given the opportunity to make it right. It's a win win.

Anyway, I'll still be renewing my membership ('cause Taxi's a great organization), and I'll see you at the Rally!

Richard
