singers - in short supply or high demand?

Post by funsongs » Tue Aug 22, 2017 6:05 pm

Well, Amigos - unless I can add to my ROLODEX some A-list singers/vocalists - male & female - may as well hang up my hat.
Though listings for songs are usually for artists who will probably re-do everything, the high-bar demand means a good demo just doesn't cut it any more.
Maybe it never did. Well - I can't give 'em what I don't got.
Spilt milk - I know. :?

Hang in! I bet there's some good singers around to collab with. I don't offer myself as I don't fit most contemporary genres. And don't forget there's lots of call for instrumentals. Why not do some of both?

My wife says I have the perfect voice for instrumentals ..it's a bit like having a great face for radio :D

That's the great thing these days, when I first discovered Taxi it was all about songs, now there's all types of music that I can make that the market is looking for...and when the money comes from those it will pay for hiring singers ..You can always go to some place like Soundbetter dot com

Peter, I'm not an A-lister, not contemporary, more of a baritone, work for free, or should I say fun? Haven't sung in awhile, I may have dropped to an F-grade!
I'm not a pro, what else?

Vikki - thanks for the post. I'm just NOT INTERESTED in the world of instrumentals; so I won't be spending any time or effort there.
Maybe - if I had my own studio & live/work space to keep all my gear up and ready to record - I might sing a different toon.
For now - I'll just keep fishing for the right singer(s).
Cheers.

Thanks, Robb; very kind words.
You know - with you being 'almost' a local - if you have any singers in your barn, who might be a fit for the goofy 'niche' that is funsongs;
have 'em give me a shout. That just might earn you a pint at the rally, Mate. :)

if it's of any help to you, i've used demosingers from soundbetter: https://soundbetter.com

these online demosiners are really a bit hit or miss (it's always preferable to be in the studio with the singer) but many of them will give you a test vocal at a discount price (one verse and chorus, lead only) if you ask.
i think it's the best site of its kind out there.

i wish you the best of luck.
