Slovenia Jazz choir version of "Africa" (Toto)

Post by suzdoyle » Sat Jul 11, 2009 10:47 am

Here's a fun video of the Slovenian jazz choir "Perpetuum Jazzile" doing an a cappella version of Toto's "Africa". They begin by creating the sound of a thunderstorm with body percussion, then continue with beat boxing and singing. Pretty fun! And it's interesting that every single singer has a mic.

The could have skipped the intro, and just done the song. Think they did a really great job, and the lead singer reminds me a bit of David Paiche's voice. Nice!

feaker,When I was about 19 I wandered into a university auditorium where a big band jazz rehearsal was going on. The sheer magnificence of the big sound made my eyes well up with tears.I think those of us who love music can be emotionally moved greatly, just by the wonderful sound.

Very cool. My favorite is the "drummer". That guy lays it down!!

Personally, I really liked the intro - especially the thunder - I was wondering if and how they would do that."Africa" has always been one of my favorite songs and I think this is a fantastic performance of it. I got a bit emotional watching it too. Thanks for sharing it Suz
