song contract and contest win

Post by donho » Fri Jan 25, 2008 6:30 am

Hey all,I'm rarely ever on these boards, but thought I should post about some big success I've had recently, largely because of my TAXI membership. I won the 2007 Kauai music festival song writing contest (the judges were Jeff Steele, Jason Blume, Shelly Peiken, ) and signed song deals on 2 songs. The feedback from TAXI submissions was a huge part of writing the songs. If you want to hear the songs, they're on myspacehttp://myspace.com/hitzaplenty

That's quite a set of judges to get through to the very top. Congratulations!DavePS - I need to seek out that music festival just to get to Kauai.

I'm jealous...That you live in Hawaii.Nice hook & lyric on the chorus of Back to Being Gone. So perfectly simple.

Congratulations, Donho! Your success is a big one indeed, especially considering the expertise of the judges-- WOW!!! That's really exciting news indeed!!!Raags

Quote:I think they should move it from July to Feb. That would be great for us snowbirds, though the weather in Kauai is nice year around. (It does rain a little more in Jan/Feb months even on the desert shores of the south side). We've been there many times, and it's one of the most beautiful places on earth. No wonder it's called the "Garden Island" and so many films have been made there. (It's volcanic peak also gets some 45 feet of rainfall annually-- one of the world's wettest locations!). It's incredible, even with all the dreaded increase in mainland re-location population and traffic the past 10 years-- the beauty of Kauai is absolutely and powerfully breath-taking!Raags
