Hi there, the link works fine but in order to give you help we would need the complete brief including the refs and the screeners critique.

Hi, as Melodea says, in order to help there has to be some context, otherwise nobody knows what was being asked for, where the screener thought the track didn't meet the brief, and what it is you would like help in understanding. [Note that its best to copy/past the listing with the refs and the screener's comments rather than posting links]. However, I hear a few things that might have contributed to the screener's decision, but they're just my opinions so take them or leave them.

I think you have some good ideas in the track. To me it sounds vaguely festive, but the title suggests it was meant to be technical, and the dominance of the percussion suggests it might have been for a percussion-led listing. That leaves me a little confused as to what you're going for. The prominent percussion takes my attention through the whole track and other instruments are pushed back into a supporting role, but that leaves me feeling robbed of the musical interest. Overall, the percussion seems to have some looseness to it and some spots where it feels out of time (could be the fast triplets or delay), and as its so prominent those things are very apparent. I think the bass end is also a little out of balance in places, and seems particularly heavy from 55s-1:13s. The sense of progression through the track seems to come mainly from adding more percussion layers, but there's so many things to listen that the mix becomes more confusing.

My suggestions would be to simplify and clean up the percussion as well as sitting it further back in the mix, balance the bass end a little more, then work through the track to ensure that the focus is clear at all times and everything else supports that. Of course, the main consideration in the first instance is to satisfy the listing requirements and my suggestions might not align with those - hence the need for context. Nevertheless, I hope something in my comments helps a little. :)

Thank you for the response! And yes, I know I need to list the brief and give a synopsis of the what the screener said. When I first posted here last year I did not realize that the link to the music did not work. So, I was testing that first.

Not having any context, this track is potentially usable as an underscore for a science/tech segment, manufacturing ("how it's made") type of show. The percussion topper gets a little repetitive and can come down in the mix in some sections, and you could use at least one clean edit point somewhere.

Post the full tect from the listing here so we can see what you were shooting for.
