I hear ya... well, actually at first read it seemed you had some infernal device that could sense my thoughts and "you.. heard me".

I hope you take it as a compliment that at my - barely 3 months - experience with Taxi, I recognize your posts as those of a seasoned veteran. You've expressed yourself through text and music as someone with commitment.
I think your points about improving workflow speed, and improving the critical listening/ analyzing of ref tracks are valid for everybody. They are, at least, for me. I hope that from the insight you've shared over this forum, that I may be able to run with the pack sooner than without.
A sincere thanks :)

Hey Tom, I hear ya too! You were kind enough to give me feedback recently on a dramedy cue, and when I went to Soundcloud to hear your stuff, I was impressed with your composing chops and even your sound. You had perceptive and intelligent comments on my mix, which I appreciate. Your tracks don't sound like beginner stuff to me at all - in fact I'm going to listen to more now... so just hang in there and persist. Write, Submit, Forget, Repeat :)

As for me, I've been writing and submitting seriously for about 1.5 years, with a bunch of forwards (almost 50%), but no deals yet. I am convinced the only and best way to keep going is just keep writing, keep learning, and keep the faith.

Robert

How were you recording previously without a DAW out of curiosity?

Seems to me you've already identified the main ingredient - whether you approach this as a hobby or a business (from which you hope/plan to earn income)...
and that is "FUN" (see what I did there?) :? 8-)
As long as you are enjoying the creativity part, learning the crafting part will continue to grow... how can it NOT?

Tom, I am so glad you are progressing with your DAW..the tracks are definitely sounding better than before.

You still need get a proper ASIO audio interface otherwise you're going to be struggling. I'm not sure what the latency is like with your on-board stuff but it can't be conducive to recording and mixing.

You're competing against folks who already invested in these things - Not that they guarantee any forwards or deals but they are the tools of the trade like a DAW or a decent set of monitors/headphones.

I got a history of using the wrong tools. Need to look into that.

some talents on here strike 4/4 on a single listing like that, but - hey - I take it! :D
Anybody you were thinking of, specifically?? :P
