Drums sound OK, bass sounds muddy and indistinct. The E, G, A sequence has been used a LOT. Just drums and bass without melodic or higher register instruments sounds incomplete. 50s is too short for most usage. I'd call it rock, not alternative rock. Other than that I'm not sure what to say when its unfinished, too short and there's no context. Is it just for fun, to check you recordings, or the start of a cue or instrumental intended for sync, maybe for a particular Taxi listing? Perhaps you could post again when you have the full 'ditty' ;) and some intention.
Graham (UK). Still composing a little faster than decomposing, and 100% HI.

Thanks @Telefunkin!!!

You're correct, it's a quick test for sounds and to start right by working on drums/bass first.

I'll definitely clean things up and add some more content, thank you for the pointers!!
Will post an updated version that takes into consideration everything you mentioned.

Many thanks and much respect!!

New version is indeed better as far as tv music goes. The guitar that comes in around 1:14 is way back, is it supposed to be ear candy, or an actual lead? If the latter, bring it forward more.

This still sounds like a "bed" mix of a more complete song. If you intend to submit this to a listing or library you need to have some sort of melody in there. Then you can add/remove things every eight bars to add variety.

The recordings sound good. As Paulie says the mix balance of the guitars is a bit off and the arrangement needs more content, but basically you're good to go for constructing rock submissions :).

This is great!!! Thank you :D

You're 100% correct in that this is a foundation I'm trying to set for submissions in that genre.
I'll work on cleaning up the performances+levels and upload a newer version soon.

Having this forum for listening/feedback is greatly appreciated.

Are you double tracking the guitar parts? if so, pan them opposite with slightly different effects to get a better stereo spread. There's a bit of muddiness, if you are using reverb plugins, see if you can roll off the low end before it hits the reverb.

Hope this helps

Michael

Hi Michael,

It's a single guitar with some delay trickery for the wide effect with sends to 2 reverbs (long and short). I believe that might be what's causing the issue and a smaller stereo spread - thank you for the advice and ears!!
