Who can recommend some "Modern" synth sounds right out of the box?

Omnisphere looks great: https://www.spectrasonics.net/products/ ... /index.php I don't own it myself, but really impressed with the demos and reviews....

Depends on what type of music you want it for.

If YOU personally wanted to spend about $500, covering as many "bases" as possible, what would a few of your choices be? (Not interested in Hip-Hop nor Trap, but rather Cinema, Trailers and EDM, primarily.)

Kontakt ( various Libraries ) : trailer etc

Serum -Massive : EDM

Omnisphere - Good all rounder so maybe if you can only get one it would be the first to go for.

You won't get that lot for $500 though , I think Omni is more than that alone.

I have several great synths and synth libraries from NI and IK and just recentlly got Arturia's Analog Lab V and I really love it.

Last year I bought a top of the line NI Komplete MIDI controller with 61 keys but as of this year was frustrated with trying to play piano parts-- I needed 88 keys and wanted to buy a relatively cheap MIDI keyboard controller to rotate with my 61 key synth controller. I was looking at different models and the Arturia Keylab 88 Essential stood out to me; the white color with faux wood panels was pretty damn stylish looking. It also had semi-weighted keys which is a nice compromise when you want to be able to play both synth and piano parts. And the most appealing extra feature was that it came bundled with Arturia's Analog Lab V (and version 4 too). I"m gonna have to do a review of this keyboard on its own one of these days too-- it's a fantastic piece of studio hardware for such a reasonable price.

I am extremely impressed with the sounds in Arturia Analog Lab. It's basically a collection of presets drawn from across Arturia's synth collection. It's a $200 piece of software that I had already considered buying on its own-- getting it bundled free with a nice 88 key keyboard for a total of $370 was one of the best deals I ever got in on.

I'm thinking of getting Arturia's full V Collection 8-- I got a half-off deal on it.

I think you can do trials of Arturia's stuff, so you might want to check it out.
