I think people are sick of the sweetsy 'my dog died and went to heaven' type songs.....bring back the Haggards and the George Joneses. One of my favorite newer songs is "Drinking Me Lonely" by Chris Young.....it got some airplay, but not enough. I also love "The Old Crowe Medicine Show".....they certainly need more airplay than they get......I've been to one of their shows, and they brought the house down. They're more alt-country (really hard to classify) anyway.I bought Jamey's CD a couple months back and find it really refreshing. I've been hoping that it sells well as I could write that stuff all day long. The Jeffrey Steele/Craig Wiseman stuff just doesn't come naturally to me.

I think that Real Good Night would be better to play at the panel. As much as I love Don't Mind Me, I know it's not a Nashville demo and so it will be difficult for it to break. Real Good Night was demoed in Nashville and got the Push Forward so I'm thinking it's the one to play. Now I just got to get there somehow...and get my song randomnly chosen when I have terrible luck. Two next to impossible tasks I think. Anyone have an extra miracle they want to share.... I'm sure if you get there, ML will play "Real Good Night." So Casey, open up that suitcase and let Adrienne in.

I listened to his CD all the way to Florida. Here's a really good song.....it's about 3 years old of course, and it didn't get the airplay it deserved, but "Drinking Me Lonely" is one of the best. It reminds me of "Lucky" in many ways, although it's a different theme.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAYsiLIhHOs

Sniffle, I wish you could make it too, Claire, but it's understandable considering your situation. Maybe next time? I would just love to meet ya. Likewise c

I think all us 'ole druggies can identify with that song. It's a great song, Matt. I like Stars in Alabama too.....Jamey has a way with words.

I like anything that Jamey writes. He is a phenomenal lyricist!

One thing about grittier fare....everyone talks about "Silence," but my favorite country song on my website is "Leaving Out Of Atmore" written with Bill Gaunce. If we get to play two songs (I seriously doubt it, we won't have time as Cam says) that would be one I'd like to play. That is the kind of stuff I REALLY like to write, but it's too edgy and alt-country for Nashville....this song has scored high and the screeners really like it, but the cocaine reference gets it booted everytime. In fact, I've had a screener say, 'no DRUG references.' And the screener said that was the main reason it was not fowarded. Here's my link if you haven't heard it......I love to write story songs about murderers, thieves and drunks. And yet, I'm the soccer Mom type, go figure....maybe I'm living vicariously through my songs.http://www.taximusic.com/hosting/home.php?userid=2572

Jamey is one of the most talented people I've seen come out of Nashville in a long time. I also had to warm to Honky Tonk Badonkey Donk, the song Trace Atkins picked up by Johnson.....I thought it was a little silly at first. But stuff grows on ya.
