Hello everyone,

I'm very new to taxi as well as this forum but I just had to let everyone know as far as what gear I use I recently retired my old mpc 2000 and all of my out board gear and I made a serious upgrade to the new Open Labs Miko LXD Gen6 and I must say even before I did any upgrading to this machine it had everything I needed to compose music straight out the box. If I didn't already have a fully loaded recording studio running Logic pro 8, I could even record my vocals straight into this beast. I have to admit it was a bit pricey and I did alot of research to make sure this was what I really needed and wanted and now I cannot say enough about how amazed I am with this revolutionary work station. So for me the greatest part about this newly aquired piece is now I'm able to do full blown music production at home and just put it on a scan drive and transfer it to the studio and this piece is fully upgradeable to whatever new softsynths and DAW's that technology may bring in the future. I'd recommend this to anyone who is serious about composing music.

Hi Mary,
Would you ever mix just on GarageBand alone? Whenever you xfer your GB files to Logic Express do you have any EFX(s), on your tracks at all? How about volumn levels, etc. (before transfering your tracks from GB to Logic)? Thanks Mary!

Oh... nice topic.

I'd love to get my hands on Trillian, but it's a little out of my range at the moment. I love the sound of an upright bass. If anyone knows of a decent alternative, just to get an idea recorded- let me know.

I use: FL Studio 10, with various Imageline vsts. Mostly Sytrus, FPC and Morphine. Pianissimo. RealGuitar 2. Jamstix 3, various free vst's and soundfonts too many to list.
Real stuff: Morgan acoustic guitar, old beat up Midi keys, Fender electric guitar, Boss distortion pedal, Dell quad core Pc (2,5Ghz, 4Gb Ram, SB X-fi soundcard), Zoom H2 recorder with DYI pop filter and padded box to reduce environmental noise sneaking onto the recording.

you're welcome. If you see something else you want don't buy it all together because they usually give you 10% off your next purchase, and they always put something on sale everyday, or rotate the sale items every few days.

Thanks for the tip. Sadly I can't get any of their demos to work. They just crash both standalone and plugins. :? They do offer soundfonts, but obviously there are no demos to test for that.

Really? I've never had a problem. Is the dll file in the vst folder of your daw? If it isn't I would try moving it there.

They're definitely where they're supposed to be. I ended up just buying the soundfont, I'm very impatient- glad I'm not hospitalized... (crowd boos).
I've had some issues with my soundcard and asio drivers, could be that.
Thanks anyway, Len. It looks like there are many great and affordable products there.

Really appreciate this thread. Thanks for sharing.
admin wrote:Dear Forum Folks,

I get so many emails asking me what gear our members use to make their recordings that I thought it would be cool to create a place where you can share your experiences. Please start topics with the type of gear in the subject line, eg.:

Favorite Compressor -- Universal Audio LA-2A

Tell your friends what you use it for (vocals, guitars, etc.), recommend some settings if you'd like, and if you can remember what you paid for it, even better. Feel free to include software and sample libraries as well. Giving version numbers would be helpful, I'm sure.

Have fun. Post 'em up!
Michael
