TENSION-BASED INSTRUMENTAL HYBRID CUES are needed by a Non-Exclusive Boutique Music Library with a growing list of placement on hit shows. They’re on the hunt for Tension-Based, Hybrid Orchestral/Electronic Cues you’d hear on shows like The Mentalist, CSI, Catfish, etc., etc., etc. Please listen to the following references to get in the stylistic wheelhouse of what they’re looking for: “The Mentalist-Jane Kills Red John” (0:00-1:13) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEBFK9koVW4 “CSI: CYBER” (0:00-1:32) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtAUmdD9ahM “Catfish” (1:40-2:18) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDvTLqSfTSk Please submit well-crafted Instrumental Cues that blend Electronic and Orchestral elements. Using legato string lines that build over the duration, and adding minimal electronic elements will allow you to craft a tense, foreboding Cue that will leave the audience on the edge of its seat. Piano and some sparse, light percussion could work as well, but nothing too big, heavy, or bombastic! Layer instruments in and out as your Cue progresses to add dynamics and keep it from sounding too repetitive. Please avoid anything that’s overly busy or frenetic that could distract from a scene’s dialog. Your orchestral instruments should all sound natural, so please don’t use anything stiff or MIDI-driven. Imagine a scene where a detective enters a dark house with only his flashlight, and has to clear each room. That’s the type of music they’re looking for! Hopefully, that detective had a flashlight and his gun ;-) Your submissions should be at least 2 minutes long. Easy edit points and Non-Faded/Buttoned/Stinger endings will work best for this pitch. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). They offer a NON-EXCLUSIVE 50/50 deal. Writers will also get a percentage of any applicable sync fees, which will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis. You must own or control your master and copyright to submit to this pitch. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Please submit one to three Instrumental Cues online or per CD no later than 11:59 PM (PST), on Monday, February 22nd, 2016 TAXI #D160222IT
