Hi Patrick,

As you feared, the mix is a little rough and the vocals are a bit pitchy (not that I can do any better, mind you :P ). Overall, the song is a good one, though. I can hear what you are saying about the female vocalist, but I think it could also work great as a duet -- male first verse and chorus, female second, and then together. Maybe some lyric tweaking would be required to make that work, but you could definitely develop that song into something. Keep on working!

jdkotaska,

Thanks for the thoughtful ideas. :) I believe the song has merit but unfortunately my vocals and guitar playing weren't up to scratch...to really make it shine.

Apology for posting this track on this forum. I should have placed it in the Peer to Peer section, but my thread started here so I decided to keep rolling with it.

I'm actually not a musician or vocalist...I just fake my way through it all. But I do consider myself to be a songwriter. I feel I've always had the knack for marrying a lyric to a melody. My biggest thrill would be someone else turning one of my songs into something special.

I lift boxes for a living, and want my daughters to realize that a man isn't his job....that there's more to Dad than meets the eye. ;)

I also get monthly injections of Abilify for my Schizophrenia. But on some level, I feel my affliction actually helps me in the songwriting department...connecting dots...creating musical order out of disorder...etc.

Okay...

I just sang and played this one-off into my daughter's apple iphone. Cripes! I think it sounds miles better than my studio version. Let me know what you think?

I really love your lyrics, and I don't think there's anything wrong with your voice. Your song is very authentic. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Patrick,

See what Cheryl wrote..... very authentic...
Yes...it IS. VERY authentic... just like a Beatles song would be.

I have not played this track in several days.... and I still remember it.
The 'I'm falling to pieces' line is PURE GOLD.

I KNOW a GREAT track when I hear one.

Thank you both for the kind feedback!

I posted an instrumental version of my ballad Falling to Pieces in the Peer to Peer section that my fellow schizophrenic buddy produced.

Sheesh! It has over 5000 listens in just one day!...and over 240 likes!

This mix is better, as is the vocal performance; the guitar is lacking a smidge in execution, but the general thrust is there. As is, I wouldn't be surprised to hear it on a disc of Beatles outtakes. This is very much in a John Lennon/David Bowie vein, and I think it has potential. As it happens, I know a guy who can produce this sort of thing at a very high level; send me a PM and I'll see if I can hook you up.

I have notes on this one; the orchestration is very good, but the string sounds in particular are edgy and synthy, but mainly the lines are held out too long, where there'd be bow crossings if real strings were used. Compare this to how the Mellotron was used on The Moody Blues' records, to hear what I mean. Also, I'm digging the changes, but you might want to consider adding a bridge. I'm not at all surprised that people are responding to the chords and melody; that's damn fine stuff.
