Has anyone used the twenty dollar review? Has it helped with the song construction? My best reviewer is my wife ....I might want to just spend twenty dollar.

I have found that the p2p forum here and also lyric lovers is an excellent way to find out where a song stands againt the competition. The senior members and those with a lot more success than me placing songs always are gracious enough to lend their ears to my tunes and offer constructive criticism. sometimes much more detailed and also focused than the taxi reviewers. sometimes I think my song must have been the 200th one they at taxi listened to that day 'cause the review is kind of vague. oh well they are human and usually do a very good job with the submissions.give the forums a try before you spend the 20 $ IMOscott

I've used it a couple of times and I think it's very good. There is a question field where you tell them what you want to know. Otherwise it's the same as the other critique you get from the submissions.I just asked how to make my song better and I got a lot of tips./Stephan

I've had a handful and I think they're generally excellent. You can get very valuable feedback on P2P from the knowledgeable people on here, but sometimes it's helpful to get an additional opinion from somebody dispassionate, who has been trained to do this professionally, is probably in the industry, and listens to songs for a few hours every day.

P2P feedback is very useful, for sure. However, I find the Custom Critique to be valuable as well, because it gives me an objective view of how the industry might view my song. I think it's crucial to ask good questions when submitting for a CC. I ask things like "who are the 'a la artists' for this song." "Does this satisfy the requirements of this genre". I ask about production values. I try to illicit information that will help me effectively produce the track and target listings. I think it's a good idea to have a worktape of a song evaluated for $20, before spending the money to get a demo done.

Both the $20 custom critique and the P2P forum are great. I've had 3 custom crits done, and each one was excellent.Unless there is a time constraint on getting the song done, I would suggest doing a round (or two) of P2P first...then sending it in for a custom critique. Make sure you ask specific questions from the $20 critique too, that's been insightful to me.

Great Advice ALL! Hummingbird.....I like your idea of a rough take submission. I have the problem of genre and perhaps some preview comments would make it easier to 'fit' a niche.

I have received excellent feedback on the forums. It is the little things that go unnoticed by the songwriter that are picked up by the members reviewing your material that really make a big difference sometimes. Save your twenty bucks, I think you are getting a lot more than that here. I know I have. jmoJesse

I'd suggest to learn how to critique music like the screeners do. Get the books they read, get some of the training they go through and so on. Getting songs critiqued by them is VERY valuable in the process of learning how to critique your own music but for me, I took all the above and started helping critiquing other folks music and in so doing really got my head into the place where A&R guys and screener and music supervisors live. With that you'll be an unstoppable music producer... The key here for me was by helping others I helped myself and what an excellent process it has been! Cheers, wta
