Dear Passengers,

More TAXI members are earning income from Instrumental Cues for TV than ever before! Sounds easy, right? Just mute the vocal, and there you go… wrong!

There’s more to it, but frankly, it’s not that hard. Doing it well requires that you know what works, and what doesn’t. That’s what we’re going to talk about on this week’s TAXI TV – the do’s and don’ts of creating Instrumental Cues!

Just a few of the many topics we’ll be covering:

How long your Cues should be
Which genres are the best for you to start with?
Where to find inspiration before you compose
Instrumentals VS Instrumental Cues
How Cues are structured
How to create titles that get your Cues used
How to become more efficient and productive in cranking them out
Much, much more!

We’ll do some Q&A near the end of the episode, so join us for the live broadcast if you’ve got questions!

One thing that confuses me ...

I see postings that say to submit an instrumental or cue.

Wouldn't an instrumental possibly serve as a cue (if good edit points)?

Is it acceptable to submit a longer file that contains an instrumental and a shorter cue from this?

Or would this be submitted as two separate files (and 2x the submission cost)?

Thanks!
Brandon

I've been wondering the same thing.
It's a shame no one has replied, unless the answer lies somewhere within that episode of Taxi TV. I do my best to watch some of the episodes, but 90 minutes is a large chunk of time to spend when your time is limited to 2-3 hours a day.

Yes, the answer is in that episode.

If you don't feel that you can invest the time to watch the TV episodes live, you can always watch them later at x1.5 or even x2 until you get to the bits you're most interested in. In this case, if you start at about 9:30 you'll probably get the answer you need.

Cues v instrumentals has been discussed quite a lot, so a quick search through the forums should get you a load more information. More generally, the answers to just about every question are in the forums or on the TV shows somewhere, so its always worth a check.
Graham (UK). Still composing a little faster than decomposing, and 100% HI.
