Today I did it!

Post by BGBobby » Fri Dec 04, 2015 10:38 am

Hi Everyone!

Last Christmas Eve, I finally overcame all the false starts and my self doubts and signed up for Taxi. I made a promise to myself that in 2015 I would get it together and 1. go to the Rally and 2. submit 4 songs.

I'm happy to say that I was at the Rally last month and as of an hour ago, I posted Song #4! I accomplished my goal and I can't describe the feeling! Right now, I'm not even concerned about getting Forwards or anything like that - I'm just happy I've actually started. I've always wanted to do this.

So now I'm on the Taxi forums. I've been encouraged and inspired by all your posts and music and I want to be a part of it. I'm looking forward to this!

Best,
Bobby

Welcome.
Next year your goal should be to get dozens of deals from all your forwards
and retire to the Bahamas. :)

Hey Bobby,

I signed up a couple of months after you, and just went to my first Road Rally too. Good to hear others are loving it too!

Best of luck with your forwards!

One step at a time... WELCOME! The forums are the place to be, to learn, to network. Glad you made the decision, and congrats on your 4th submission. The best way to get better is to write as much as you can. I suggest to folks new to music writing that they wrote for listings and then submit songs here in the Peer to Peer section. That way you get great feedback from forum members and save yourself the $5 per song. Then, when you feel that your stuff is up to par, do the same thing (seek out feedback) and then actually submit!

I don't know your personal situation as far as work and time to write, but perhaps 2016 can be the year you submit one song per month? Go for it! :)

Welcome to the forum! Overcoming inertia is no small feat; like I told ML at my first Rally, it was really hard to get on that plane, cuz regardless of the outcome, I knew my life was gonna change, and that's a very scary prospect.

Awesome, Bobby!

This is a very slow process and it will certainly test your mind. If you're okay with that and you give your absolute all, there's no reason you can't get a song or 3 into a tv show or movie in the next few years.

Give yourself an honest 5 years to get paid. Sometimes its sooner, but most of the time it's later.

Then again, you may already be on your way ... ;) In which case we'll be asking for YOUR advice!

Best of luck to you!!!

I appreciate the warm welcome, the encouraging words and the good advice. As I approached the Hotel, I took a deep breath, told myself "You can do this. This is what you want." I'm so glad I finally did. I'm amazed at how welcoming and helpful everyone is! This just keeps getting better and better. Thanks all!

Rock On, BGB! Just keep at it steady. Seek quality first, the quantity will follow.
