Too cool!

Post by elser » Fri Jul 25, 2008 7:14 pm

Just had to share this. The band I play with, Abbacadabra, just got hired to play for a backstage party for The Police at the Jones Theatre in NY. The Police are playing the Jones Theatre on Aug. 4th then afterwards the mega entertainment promotional company Live Nation is putting on a party and we're the entertainment. Man, The Police were really a big part of my musical formation so the opportunity to play for those guys is way cool.Whew! Elser

Ah crap, the gig got cancelled. I'm not in on the whole story but apparently there's a string of hostile emails being exchanged by two of the agents within Live Nation and we got caught in the middle of it. Oh well.

OMG, man. I am SO sorry to hear this.God truly does have one frickin' SICK sense of humor. Oddly enough, I'm still one of those that firmly believes there's a good reason why this has suddenly fallen apart. Not that that makes this any easier to deal with...

Hey Ted, thanks. I'm not really all that broken up about it though. I've experienced enough let downs in this business to be fairly numb to it anymore. And Sting is buying a piano from the guy I work for. He builds custom made grand piano cases with a midi keyboard inside, so your right something good came out of it. And our name has been bandied about by powerful, if unethical, higher ups. Sooo...

I am sorry it fell through but hopefully there's something else just around the corner.
