Top-notch Indie/Alt-Pop/Rock Song??? Help, please!

Post by DannyWeber » Mon Sep 27, 2021 3:15 pm

Hi good folks. Does this fit the listing and how do you like the way I mixed and produced this?
Thank you.
Dan

ANTHEMIC INDIE/ALTERNATIVE POP/ROCK SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by an extremely active Music Licensing Company with a really, really long track record of placements in Film, TV, and Commercials.
This awesome Company is looking for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that could be found on a playlist with the following references we got directly from them:
"Wild Love" by BANNERS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_X5i3AykMQ
"New Religion" by The Heydaze https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5JBwEXxLpA
"maybe, i'm afraid" by lovelytheband https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSYIEAmcNBU
Please submit top-notch Indie/Alt-Pop/Rock Songs with great melodies, engaging rhythms, and anthemic choruses. Instrumentation that's in the general ballpark of the references will suit your submissions best. Your production and any virtual instruments or samples you use should be high-quality and modern. Compelling, well-performed vocals with lots of great energy could be the cherry on top!

Lyrics
Mmm-Mmm-Mmm
Mmm-Mmm-Mmm
Mmm-Mmm-Mmm

I have climbed the mountain high
I have walked the valley low
I have seen the bright blue skies
Part before my very eyes
I have swum the deep blue sea
I have had epiphany
I have got so much to give
You only have one life to live

You only have one
You only have one life to live

I have loved and I have cried
I have seen the end of time
There were times when I have lied
Then the truth just blew my mind
Peace will come and peace will go
Sometimes war won't let you go
I've come back to let you know
You only have one life to live

Only have one
Only have one
You only have one life to live

I have climbed the mountain high
I have walked the valley low
I have seen the bright blue skies
Part before my very eyes
I have swum the deep blue sea
I have had epiphany
I have got so much to give
You only have one life to live

Mmm-Mmm-Mmm
Mmm-Mmm-Mmm
Mmm-Mmm-Mmm

Mmm-Mmm-Mmm
Mmm-Mmm-Mmm
Mmm-Mmm-Mmm

I have been a tortured soul
I have got to let you know
I have seen best of times
Spent some time in the darkest hole
I have had to count on you
You have had to count on me
They have had to see us through
We've only got one life to live

Some are born and some have died
I've had yours and you've had mine
Come together while we can
So we both can live again
In the dark we make our way
Hope the light will come today
Learn to live another day
We've only got one life to live

You only have one
Only have one
You only have one life to live

I have climbed the mountain high
I have walked the valley low
I have seen the bright blue skies
Part before my very eyes
I have swum the deep blue sea
I have had epiphany
I have got so much to give
You only have one life to live

You only have one
Only have one
You only have one

Go your own way! Out of necessity, drive, gumption, whatever.. don't let anyone tell you you can't!

Hey, Dan - just very-first thought: the vocal mix:
The vocal in BANNER - Wild Love sounds like it's got little or no FX, and is very right-in-front & center...
try making your vocals A/B match that. IMHO - your vocals are way too far back and out of plane with the music track.
2 cents.

Hi Dan!
Your track strikes me as "alt-rock" with none of the "pop" elements that the listing calls for. My opinion only, but it sounds nothing like the ref tracks.

The track itself sounds good, and has a lot of promise! I'm a bit confused as to whether that repeated section is a chorus or not; the melody and rhythm do not distinguish it from the verses. I think you can utilize the refrain line at the end of the verses without forcing a verse to be a proxy chorus? :?

The track went away, then came back... before I could post:
"...but I like the concept." :? 8-)
That opinion, and $5.10, will buy you a gallon of unleaded here in SoCal.
Your mileage may vary.

Hi Brother Dan,

Yeah it has more of a rock vibe to it than pop. I notice the guitars in the ref and that genre mostly have clear guitar sound and delay than distorted but nice track though.

good luck.
