Tryin to beat the hangman...in the grasp of covid

Post by feaker66 » Tue Oct 19, 2021 9:59 am

This second bout with covid has shaken me to the core. I had to write a second song about the inner fears of dying. Because of the poor me vibe, the chorus could not be upbeat. Any thoughts about any part?

Tryin to beat the hangman

I don’t wanna die I am gonna fight..I’m tryin just to make it through the night

Lately I’ve been struggling....and feeling awful sick Dm
Exhausted all my remedies....they did not do the trick.

I’m trying to beat the hangman, but the rope is sinchin tighter n tighter Bb C Dm
Trying to beat the hangman, Trying just to make it through the night

I don’t wanna die in this bed tonight...I know he’s here I feel this awful fright

I feel him sitting on my chest.. smiling ..tellin me to get get some rest

I feel saddened.. I fell helpless.. I feel angry too

Don’t think that..you’re immuned..cuz It will come for you

I did my best to battle it, but the fight has worn me down Dm
I hope you will remember me... if I don’t come around

Can't help with the song but very best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
I hope you can soon add a verse on how you chased that hangman away.

Dude.....

Prayers.

Dig the song got me in tears. Production is nice, fits the music and overall vibe.

My only suggestion is you might want to move the change up that comes after this line

"I feel him sitting on my chest.. smiling ..tellin me to get get some rest"

Maybe have "rest" fall on the change?

Good work my friend.

Keep fighting.

Hey ole friend. I forget to look for your new name. I am starting to lose it also. Your suggestion is perfect. The song stalls right there before that other riff starts. So easy to cut that out and scootch it over a bit. thank you so much for your help and tiem. Say Hi to your wonderful wife and mike as well. We should do a song together sometime. to you the best

Wow, sorry to hear that. Where I live here in Germany, I don't even know anyone close with a first bout, not to mention
a serious one. But we also had all these lockdowns and restrictions in place.
Was it a vaccination breakthrough?
We will travel to the US for a family visit over Christmas, and both, my wife and I, feel a little uncertain about it...

All the best!

Tom
Hi Tom I got it in January. Was in real bad shape for a month an a half. We winter in Texas and I wanted to talk to my doc back in Michigan and he talked me into the double dose maderna. Then the delta variant hit here hard. My wife and i stayed home and I got it again somehow?? She didn't. I did in fact feel like someone was sitting on my chest. The scary part was trying to sleep. i slept in an almost upright sitting position and in the morning it was much worse. My doc said with my heart condition and oxygen level under 90 I had better get the monoclonal antibodies. I was reluctant, but 24 hours later I could feel myself getting stronger. Not much, but there was a change. I still can only take in about 75% of the air into my lungs. It's a good thing I never smoked (so they tell me) I hope you don't get it. I am almost 73 and very active usually, but it will take some time to get back. I won't be going out much tho. thanks for your concern

Hey feaker,

very sorry to hear about your current trouble! Get well soon, this bitch surely won't catch us right?

As for the song, yeah it sounds really emotional, specifically liked the low harmony voice in the back, you don't use it very often, maybe try it more...?

Hey Mr Z Thanks for caring. I am getting over the hump, so I am cautiously optimistic. It was funny singing that low part. It is mostly just a G note with occasional D. Way down there for sure.
I'll mess tweaking this and start maybe a rocker. Good to hear from you.

Nice song, feaker. Thought of saying "hang in there" ... but no, don't hang anywhere, just "Best wishes for a full recovery!" :)
