Hi there!
I have a novation 61 keys USB keyboard and an Arturia Keylab 88 master keyboard.
When I hook them up to Logic X the play the same sound switching between the VI channels.
Is it possible to do this?:
Channel 1, piano sound Arturia Keylab
Channel 2, strings sound Novation
1 keyboard is playing 1 sound and the other keyboard another sound? Not sure how to route the USB midi within Logic X...

Basically, you have to set the midi transmit/receive channel(s) on each of your synths. Not receive because they are apparently controllers with no sound.
1. Arturia....https://downloads.arturia.com/products/ ... 130401.pdf
2. Novation...https://us.novationmusic.com/sites/defa ... g-en_0.pdf exploring launch key midi channel.
In Logic you must "Creating Your MIDI Signal Path
Before any MIDI events received at your computer’s MIDI inputs can be recorded by Logic Pro, there must be a connection between two Environment objects:
https://documentation.apple.com/en/logi ... tasks=true
I've never used Logic or any of the keyboards you have, but basically you need to set up the midi transmit and receive channels for each synth, and then route them inside Logic using "the environment window?". That is if you want to send the midi and record midi into Logic, and then transmit the recorded midi in Logic to the synths. In the manual under "Working with instruments"

Working with Instruments
This section describes the use of software instruments and external MIDI sound generators. Both software and external MIDI instrument tracks are handled in an almost identical fashion. In fact, the MIDI regions on tracks routed to either type of channel strip (software instrument or External MIDI) can be used interchangeably. You can also completely reassign a track routed to an external MIDI synthesizer to one using software instruments, or copy the data of an external MIDI track to a software instrument track, resulting in layered playback of the part through both instruments.Software instruments use instrument channel strips. MIDI instruments use External MIDI channel strips.

They play the same sound because they are probably connected to the default port and channel which is usually channel 1. There are 16 midi channels per port, and usually a ton of ports. You have to assign ports and channels and sounds and tracks within the synths and daw.
Because these seem to be keyboard controllers, (without onboard sequencers and sounds), they can also have the sliders, knobs and pads etc. assigned to a midi channel and function within Logic (notes, effects, parameters). Midi learn is the common term for setting those channels for a software effect or instrument or midi cc.

Re: Using 2 USB keyboards with Logic X
Thanks!
I will try to figure this out
Man I wish it would be easier routing midi signals...
