Rock Instrumental for Monday's deadline!
Edit: Submitted Version: http://www.taxi.com/matthewmoss "Vivacious Inspiration"
Just spent about 8 hours on this one. Let me know!! My ears are wack now. Also time to spend time with the wife I have been ignoring all day.
Vivacious Inspiration

TOP TIER NY AD AGENCY looking for CONTEMPORARY, INSPIRATIONAL INSTRUMENTAL ROCK TRACKS a la The Verve (Bittersweet Symphony), Coldplay and Killers to underscore a 3-spot AD CAMPAIGN for a high-profile financial news company. Payout rocks it at around $20,000 PER SPOT!!! They need POSITIVE, UPTEMPO, ENERGETIC TRACKS with BUILDING INTENSITY. Nothing too edgy, schmaltzy or avant-garde please. Subtle TECHNO and VOCAL ELEMENTS OK, but NO LYRICS please. Tracks must be at least 60-seconds, but easy to edit into :30s if necessary. Must be BROADCAST QUALITY (excellent home recordings are fine) and you must own 100% of the master and composition rights. The company has requested that we don't give out their company name. If you ARE chosen, they will contact you. THE PRODUCTION COMPANY AND AGENCY WILL NOTIFY US OF ANY MEMBERS WHO CONTACT THEM DIRECTLY, AND YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED. Please submit up to (3) tracks via CD or online. Submissions will be screened on a YES/NO basis; there will be NO TAXI CRITQUES. Submission deadline: Monday, December 13, 2010 at 10am PST. Nailed it, I reckon, Matt. Very Coldplay, but you, not them. Fingers crossed for you.

Nice track!
Totally cool!
The only thing I'm wondering about a little is whether it matches "UPTEMPO, ENERGETIC TRACKS with BUILDING INTENSITY"... It probably does but that was my only minor concern with respect to this listing.
Good luck!
Casey

Real nice piece. Good energy. I think I'd back the volume down on the git solo around :48 and 1:35; to my ears it pops out the groove a bit. Best of luck with this.

Matthew
Nice piece.
Not sure if it fits the listing perfectly.
Really like when it comes alive like at 1:35.
Don't know if the calm parts have enough energy to stand alone.
Good luck
sincerely

Re: Rock Instrumental for Monday's deadline!
Nice work, Matthew!
I think the lead instruments need to blend just a notch better in the mix. Maybe lower the piano 1db relative to the mix, and the lead guit 3db.. something in that measure to my ears..

Good piece, Matt. Nice feel. Sounds on genre to me. My only problem is whether you've built up too quickly. Maybe you could bring the drums in later... It's very strong as it is, though. Best of luck with it.

Re: Rock Instrumental for Monday's deadline!
All man, or men,
Thank you so so so very much for this feedback everyone! It is priceless. I spent about another 2 hours or more fine tuning and writing some other parts this morning.
1. lowered the overall level of lead instruments. EQed accordingly
2. fixed some timing issues with piano melody and changed one note lol
3. left the first verse and chorus the same as far as instrumentation.
4. half way through 2nd verse added B3 with leslie (low in volume)
5. rolled into last chorus with organ higher up
6. subtle string layer
7. half way through 2nd chorus - lowered organ and brought in new string part with violin and cello panned accordingly (low in mix)
NEW VERSION!!
