New PC, no Logic Pro X, need drum software recs

Post by RickElliott » Tue Jun 04, 2024 4:58 am

Needed a new computer that could handle my video editing and reduce latency for audio stuff, so I bought a new PC. The equivalent Mac would cost over $50k. So that means no more Logic Pro X. I loved their drum software. So please... what is a good software drum program for PC? I mean one that doesn't raise the screener's radars? Lol

I myself enjoy Addictive Drums, I find the ease of sending them to a seperate bus to treat a real plus. That being said it could be more comfort than anything. BFD is great, EZ Drummer is great, and if you're in the mood for an insane bargain the very, very good Ugritone is sadly closing down, but selling off their stuff at a very reduced rate atm.

Yikes - how much was the PC ? Remember when Logic used to be both PC & Mac ? Wild times.

Me too !

I just upgraded my PC's ram to 64gb which cost £100 but is £600 - 800 extra on Mac ( I have to buy one for my wife every 7 or 8yrs )

So I am intersted to know what could rack up $50k

The OP posted a long time ago, so I'm not sure we'll hear from them. I don't really understand it either. If you configure a Mac Pro with the top of the line everything, it's $13k. Even with a couple of Apple high-end displays, you can't get to $50k. However, note that it's the OPs video editing needs that are driving the hardware for the purchase. Even there, it's hard to see hitting $50k without maybe some specialized hardware.

I am thrilled to be able to do most of my work on a MacBook M1 Max with 64GB and Logic Pro. It's getting a bit old now, but it's still an incredibly compelling and powerful platform for my audio production needs.

Sorry it took me so long to see this! Here's the Mac with the (almost same) specs. Yes, no M1-2 business though. It's actually a LOT lower now. It's only 4 times as much but it STILL doesn't have the same specs as far as internal storage. I have a 2TB C drive & 8 TB D. I don't know where I got 50k or 60k. Mac's RAM is twice mine though.

I don't know where I got that number! Apologies! I looked it up before the M2 came out.
Since then, I have tried out a few. I'm working with SSD and Kontakt. I do miss "Strike" by A.I.R, but having those two other's, I'll just work on getting good at one of those.
