Hey Folks

Post by TomS » Fri Apr 05, 2013 11:23 am

Hey

Another noobie here. I'm Tom from Ireland. I'm a lifelong guitarist (38) and I have my own home studio (doesn't everyone these days) I use Cubase on Pc running Omnisphere, Trillian, ssd4, VCC, VTM, UBK-1. I haven't submitted any songs anywhere yet, but for the time being I am happy to just build myself a nice library. I've been lurking on this forum and others the last few weeks and thought I would sign up as there seems to be a good vibe here. Looking forward to learning and sharing what I have learned on here.

Thanks Tom and Steve for the welcome on the mat

I think I have to be a subscriber to hear the taxi.com stuff. Really liked your stuff on reverbnation Steve. I mostly do electronic music but when the guitar is involved blues is king for me. I hope to put up some blues stuff in the future.

Hi, Tom.

Welcome. Not everyone here is a TAXI member. But if you're interested in a really focused way to improve and move forward, being a TAXI member and submitting songs to TAXI listings certainly helps! ;)

You don't have to be a member to listen to the songs on members TAXI pages. Sometimes the player doesn't load just perfectly and you may need to refresh, though.

Anyway, welcome. Look forward to hearing your stuff. You've got quite an impressive set of plug-ins. Can you work them? :D (Trilian's a monster for articulation)

Hey Russell

Thanks for the welcome. Yeah you are right the page is working now. Was listening to some of your stuff there and it's really nice. I almost broke out the incense :)

I'm going to wait before I subscribe because I will just be wasting part of my yearly while I get some tracks together for it. I have stuff I've done before but I'm not really that proud of them. I just changed rooms and my mixing sounds a lot worse in here that it did before. The other room is square had too many absorbers and I ended up mixing most of my stuff on headphones and it has really been shown up since I've listened to it in this room.

I've had omnisphere, trillian and ssd4 a bit over a year now and I've kind of wasted trillian a lot in the sense that I was just using the synth basses on it. Now that my other room is set up as a live room with my guitar amp and microphones I will be using a lot more of the 'real' bass sounds in it and getting back to guitar and drums music. The vcc and vtm I have just gotten around christmas. I've had to change my workflow with using the vtm as it is killing my cpu. I'm freezing tracks now to take the strain off, but it adds a bit of time to the process and not as easy just to mess around on the fly.

I'm waiting to get my guitar back from the luthier so I'll be cracking on songs then. In the mean time I'm just trying to lay a nice foundation for myself and learn as much as I can.

All the best
Tom
