Modernizing music

Hey All

It seems most of the mentors at the Rally think my songs are good but they require "finished production" before they will be seriously looked at.
Does anybody know how Discmakers would go about accomplishing this with a CD (fuller sound, modernized?)
Any experience would be most welcomed and helpful! : )

Hey Nina
If you need a new production, you need to re-record and re-mix, hire someone to do that, or collaborate with someone who could do it. Discmakers is in the business of putting your mixed music on CDs, they are not a recording studio. If your production/recording isn't up to standard, they can't help there.
We could help you the most if you post a link to your song on this forum, preferably the Peer-To-Peer section. Then we could make suggestions or maybe you could meet a collaborator.
HTH!

The short answer is they wouldn't, as Casey has alluded to they are essentially a CD duplication service.
Also, within the production music world we don't really require CDs as we just deliver our audio files online at the required specs to the people that need them whether that's Taxi or a Library/Publisher etc. Many people including myself don't even have a CD player any longer so they have become much more niche.
Without hearing the tracks it sounds like you need a mixer / producer and depending on how well the orignal tracks have been recorded possible a recording engineer. Most of us do this ourselves although there are folks that don't self produce so they either pay for outside help or offer some sort of equity in the songs in liue of payment.
As Casey requested, if you posted up the songs it would give a much better idea of what's required.

So Casey and Mark,
Please feel free to make suggestions after you listen to my songs. "Carry On"is the only one that's professionally produced.
ALL Good advice welcome!

Hi Nina
I listened to your songs. I hear a resemblance to 60s folk songs like from Joan Baez, etc. "Carry On" might have the most potential as a song but I might restructure it to a more obvious verse-prechorus-chorus structure as pop hits would do.
Anyway, we could talk at length about modernizing songs, getting songs produced, how things work with Taxi, music libraries, the music biz, etc. Too much to type. If you'd like to chat on the phone, drop me a PM. (This is not any kind of PAID consultation. Just friendly chat). I see you live in Hamburg, NJ! I used to live in North Jersey and I remember driving up Rt 23 that way.
Best,
Casey
