New guy on the corner

Hello all,

I'm new to the forums and new to Taxi. I joined Taxi on Jan. 1st. How's that for a new years resolution? I'm forty years old, married with children and I run heavy equipment for a living. I'm a real live, honest to god, blue collar redneck and yes, I do live in a mobile home.

I'm a singer/songwriter from Texas that writes country and some gospel. I spent four years as an entertainer, making the rounds of every bar, VFW, American Legion hall, Moose lodge, retirement home and pretty much any other place that would let me sing. There was a time when I had aspiration of making it as an artist but mainly because everybody else thought I could. I can sing a little but never was comfortable on stage. I'd much rather write and record my songs with the hopes of gaining some attention in that area...

....so, I join Taxi and submitted three songs that I'm waiting to hear back on. I'm very excited. I've been watching Taxi since 2001 when all anybody was interested in was the percentage of songs being forwarded as opposed to who was getting deals. As a matter of fact, a buddy of mine that I co-wrote a song with joined Taxi back in 2002 and sent one of our songs in that did get forwarded. That's as far as it went but we thought we were the stuff! lol

I'm not sure how active I'll be on the forums but I'll definitely be making the rounds time to time.

My best,
Slowride

Ha! Know where you're comin' from; I grew up in one of those pink houses Mellencamp sang about, later in a doublewide, and my daddy drove a diesel rig for Standard Oil. Welcome to the forums; I gotta go now, I feel a country song comin' on. :D

I appreciate the welcome. Hey "Thesongcabinet"...I was E.T. all my life (till the movie came out). Kinda funny you picked up on that.

Dave....that was funny. True, I'm not extremely impulsive but at the time that I learned about TAXI I was singing for a living and making online demos for lots of folks. Good 'ol divorce ended all of that about six years ago and it's taken me that long to do the little things...you know....buy "another" house, find "another" wife, get my children back, buy another microwave. You know, the little things.

I know, I know...I'm a walking country song. Go figure.
