I'm finishing my Bachelor's degree and I have to write an eCommerce paper on how illegal music downloads affect the music industry. (i.e. Napster) I get Billboard magazine, but I havent gone to the library yet to do research. Can anyone reccomend links to good articles or good books on the topic?
Thanks,
Dorothy

I would really love to read it when you're finished!
Could this be a little helpful?

Hey Dorothy...There's a great daily email update I get called Deans list from ASCAP. Covers many topics but there is lots of stuff on the effect of illegal file downloading on the music industry as well as the forces trying to change copyright laws etc. It has great links to the breaking stories and is a good jumping off point to find out more. Addy of how to get it is

Also, of course these days Napster is a legit operation owned by Best Buy I believe. Where you can legally download music from.
Great idea for a paper BTW.

Just plug the words, 'illegal downloading' into Google, that should give you more than enough to start with, heh. You might want to Google 'Pirate Bay', too.
http://techdirt.com Mike Masnick has done a long series of articles on copyright issues
Here's a video perspective on the matter:

Good luck finding a neutral source. Most info I've ever seen has an iron in the fire and very partisan. I would hate to try and track down numbers from any side. I would guess that most come off the tops of people's heads. It might have been easier to get a concensus on the healthcare bill or solving social security than tackling this, lol! You are very brave Dorothy!

Dorothy doesn't have to be
right, she just needs to evaluate some opinions, then write about it. It's an essay, not rocket science, heh.
