Well, I was one of those hopeful wannabes who hoped to hear their song critiqued by Beau. jealousy aside, how do the songs get chosen to appear on these webcasts? I'd be willing to bet my next Taxi forward (OK, not worth the submission it was printed on) that there were a lot of submissions way more worthy than the last song I heard. So, michael, how are they chosen?
Still, I try to educate myself through TAXI. Noted that Mr. Dozier's resume on the e-mail references 5 different artists that he's working with. All of them very interesting and talented, I might add.
I found, however, a very shocking statistic as I perused one artist's history, namely Tynisha Keli. Checked out her Wykepedia stats, she's never charted in the U.S. (even though she's very talented) She's big in Japan. Checked out her MySpace page, her song, "I Wished You Loved Me" has (wait for this), 15,559,399 hits!
How is this possible? To have that many hits on your site and never chart on the U.S. charts? Someone please enlighten me.

Apparently, a lot of people live in parts of the world that aren't the US. Taxi asked for submissions on Facebook before the broadcast.

The far east is a major music market world wide, Ott. We've had major artist here, that sold millions over there, and became major stars, while they sold but a few thousand records here. The far east countries have done lots for fusion jazz artists ect. And they know their way around mobile phones, so many hits are fully possible.. not sure about 15mill, though.. many seem to enjoy boosting their hits on MySpace and elsewhere.

I would think the songs is selected randomly, but only the King knows

years ago, when I was in college, I lived in the same building as a very popular disc jockey. he had outside "compensation", in the form of grasses not grown domestically, and powders you didn't use on your face (well, maybe your nose). . . individuals in the music industry were happy to be his friends, because he chose his playlists . . . it appears technology has advanced.

I guess I erroneously thought they were all taxi member songs.
I also would have thought they might somehow screen the songs after one of the first live screenings Michael done, and had a really strange song pop up and wondered if it was a prank, though I'm not certain if they do screen. I don't think I'll ever forget that, it was very awkward, and maybe it's best forgotten, although I thought he handled it well considering, I would not have wanted to be in his shoes for anything. I think I would have had to have feigned technical difficulties or something,lol! Of course I can certainly empathize with the other side as well, especially after the comments I received for a recent return, "A little too wacky, comical for this listing, interesting track, too esoteric for [REMOVED BY ADMIN] market....". It wasn't suppose to be wacky or comical,lol, and of course the one I thought was ingenious, of the two anyway, didn't even elicit a comment. I have to admit I've never been called esoteric before so I had to look it up. Enlightened? I guess it either means I'm a Buddhist, or else the people that [REMOVED BY ADMIN]'s markets to aren't too bright? Maybe I'll hang on to it in case they decide to market their soup to buddhist monks,lol!! Okay I'll stop, I'm getting a little too wacky and comical!!

that is still one of my favorite "taxi live" moments! don't think i'll forget it either (he did handle it well, and i do wonder if it was a prank)

I might have leaned towards the prank had I not watched a karaoke show I saw in an Iowa casino a few years back. A rather tall and big-boned woman sang "Stand By Your Man", and she had the most unlikely voice you would have ever expected to hear from her large frame. She sounded like a six year old child, albeit with all the power and force behind it her large frame could muster. Thank goodness for all the casino commotion, I was so tickled and crying and snottin' that I would have had to leave so as not to hurt her feelings, but it was the most entertaining show I have seen in a long while.
