Robin Zander - Best Rock Singer!?

I've been archiving some older rock recordings, and dug up a Cheap Trick album named "Heaven Tonight." It really brought back some memories, and lead singer Robin Zander --- Wow!You've got Elvis, John Lennon, Robert Plant (to name a few great rock singers), but Robin Zander HAS to be right up there with the best. His workout on "California Man" is so right on and shows his power and versatility. It's too bad that he never got his due as a lead singer, 'cause he's a fantastic vocalist!Ern

there were some incredible moments from Robin, but I have to go with guscave...For old-time, classic rock...NO ONE (well, I should clarify and say no WHITE boy) on EARTH had as much genuine soul as Paul Rogers. No one. I bet I saw them (Bad Company) at least 4 or 5 times in concert, and that was not only because I was a HUGE fan, but also because I wanted SO MUCH to sing like Paul.If you've heard any of my singing on these boards, you'll know I never even got close. Bad Company RULES!Ted so, I've just proven how old I am, haven't I?

How he can sing with Queen, though, is beyond me. Queen is great, but Paul's voice vs. Freddie's voice are like night and day. Can't say I've heard him sing with Queen, though, so it might work in some strange way!Bad Company was great --- loved the guitar sound!Ern

I have to go with Rick Emmet from Triumph.I saw them live -- with a bit of skepticism -- and I left that concert with a feeling that I had gotten back twice the cost of my ticket. What a voice!

I really like Robin Zander & Paul Rogers for sure...but I have to agree with Hookstown Brown on Rik Emmet's vox as well I've seen Triumph a few times (still have the shirts...d'Oh! ), and his guitar playing is pretty amazing too.I remember leaving the first concert, and my guitarist friend said "Did you see that guitar playing? Eddie Van Who?"(Oh oh...I hope I didn't start any trouble...it wasn't me who said that, remember gang?!? )

When I heard that Brad had killed himself, I was floored (and it was MONTHS after the fact).I was a FANATICAL fan of the band, Boston. Must've seen them 5-6 times in concert. Even shook Brad's hand from the front row more than once. Have you heard the acoustic version of "More Than A Feeling"? It sends chills up my spine every time.TedWait...weren't we supposed to be talking about Robin Zander? I LOVED Cheap Trick!
