Hey, Y'all,Hello,I have a concern and if this is not the right or appropriate place to post it, please forgive my newby mistake.Anyway...One of my tunes was forwarded to a library from a taxi submission. I heard from them and it turns out that they want all of the publishing from any placement. It makes me a little uncomfortable. I've placed many records independent of taxi in various media and that's never been the deal.Any insight or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, y'all..Will Brock

I get 50% of gross revenue on a 2-year exclusive deal. I didn't see an issue with that. As long there is a reversion clause. However, hopefully Matto will see your post as he is pretty expert at these things.H

Most libraries will want the publishing (or at least a large part of it), at least for the placements they are generating for you. There's nothing wrong with that IMHO. If you were to do the work of the publisher yourself and spend the time and effort to build relationships with music supervisors and editors so you could place your own songs directly, then you should get to keep your publishing. If on the other hand, a music library does that job and gets those placements for you, then they are entitled to get paid for their efforts by collecting the publisher's share.Remember you'll still get your writer's share.matto
