How does one provide proof of copyright on new material where the official copy of the copyright hasn't come back from the Library of Congress yet? Or do I I wait to submit it?

It can take months to receive your copyright receipt from the Library of Congress, but it is considered "Copyrighted" as soon as they get it in the mail. Hope this helps a little.-Dana

Even though it takes months to process the paperwork they stamp the paperwork with the date when it comes in. If someone wanted to rip your song off, they could register it but you would be holding the oldest filing. That is one reason why it is important to register your work - to keep dishonest people from registering it out from under you. As far as submitting it to Taxi before registration, I would say you're safe. One of the points to prove in a copyright infringement is access. But remember a benefit to registering is the right to file an actionable lawsuit.If someone wanted proof you can show them you filed. I also spend the little extra and get a proof of receipt from the post office so I know when it got there and note it in my records.Christi

There is also a place called WorldWideOCR you may want to check out. I used them and have had no problems w the Copyright being accepted.

Also, if it really ever came down to a lawsuit, I would think digital files you have on your computer, dated lyrical docs, etc. I would think all that would be relevant if someone were to truly rip you off.
