Let's make a deal...

Whoever gets the "French Laundry Detergent Commercial" Dispatch listing buys dinner for the forum attendees at the next Rally. Actually it's an interesting "lesson". A lot of times (I do this too), we think of a Taxi listing as kind of being exclusive to Taxi and that we're only competing against other Taxi members. Probably more often than not, Taxi is only one of the sources of good music for a listing client. Certainly in things like high bar Country listings they're looking far and wide, high and low, and those who are submitting are competing against all kinds of other sources.Such is the case for the French detergent listing. It's a "high bar" listing and they're not limiting their scope. It's listed in several places in addition to Taxi. This is not a negative thing. I mention this because I think that by putting things into true perspective, it's a good reality check to know that the competition will be pretty serious and to ratchet ourselves up accordingly. I know we should always do our best but world records are almost always set in BIG competitions but not from a lack of trying in the smaller ones.I'm guessing the music supervisor will be screening these directly (for those afflicted with Taxiscreeneritis). The music is due at 2pm and the listing says that they have to have the music in the music supervisor's hands that afternoon. This kind of ties into another thread going on here. Personally, I like the "screener" aspect of Taxi. I always feel like if my track(s) can't make it through the Taxi screeners, it's not going to be the pick of the litter from thousands of other tracks. Any track that would make it through the Taxi screeners would certainly be worthy of consideration and I think would have a good a chance as any and better than most. This is definitely a case where I'd prefer that it were being screened by Taxi. I think that a smaller, pre-screened set of tracks would carry more weight. It's probably the listing client here making the decision to screen themselves so it's kind of a moot point. Just thought it would be interesting to share this. There will be MANY, MANY submissions from a variety of sources, so we all need to push ourselves to a higher level for this. Good luck... wish me luck. Dave
