Would you still write songs?I was talking with my Dad and I told him that I wished I could win the lottery so that I could have the time and money to write and promote my songs. He also writes songs. His resonse was, " You'd have enough money that you'd never have to write another song in your life. If you won the lottery, would you really care if you ever wrote another song? My answer is 'yes.' I would definitely still write songs. I haven't been subjected to thousands of rejections (knock on wood) and I hope I never am. A person could get very discouraged over time with enough hard knocks. Take a minute and think about it honestly. Would you still write songs if you had millions in the bank?

For sure......I'd go down and hang with Alan and Jimmy and write tunes and lyrics in between catching fish on the HullBilly...... Maybe buy a little place near Kenny down in the VI and sit on the beach sipping coronas and colaborate a little...

In all honesty... probably not. When I was younger, I still would have. Now, I would spend every minute with the family and or helping folks, like in "operation smile" or opening my own label.

Yeah! But then again, I'm 19. I would probably invest 95% of the money, then spend the other 5% on gear and promoting my music - including hiring people to help me do it

Absolutely!I think if your only motivation for making music was money, you might have a problem.While it's fun to think about this sort of thing, it can also be a little dangerous...cause it's not like that will ever happen. I don't know of any songwriter/artist/composer who won millions in the lottery and then used that to "make it" in music. Maybe there's ONE among a 1'000'000 songwriters...but, it might be more productive to look at what the 999'999 who weren't so lucky did to succeed...

I will play and compose until my last dying breath - no matter what may or may not happen to me...

I would buy a radio station or a lot of time on one and play the songs I wanted to play, like the old days of FM radio. In those days, on stations like WNEW-FM New York, the DJs could create sets of songs based on what the felt like. I remember that you could hear a Judy Collins song and a Led Zep song not that far apart. I recently got Judy Collin's Greatest Hits CD, and when I listen to "Someday Soon" and "Who Knows Where The Time Goes", it takes me back to those days. Sometimes the DJ would play a set of 6 Stones songs, sometimes a mix of songs about similar subjects, etc.Of course, I would make time to play unsigned songwriters and artists who would never get a chance to be on radio the way things are today.And maybe I'd buy a lot of studio time and musicians for sessions so I could write to my heart's content and be involved with the sound from the get-go. Absolutely, I would still write songs. I write songs, and play & sing, and paint, and write, because it makes me feel alive. Of course I also like to pay my bills & get out of debt. But I honestly don't think I'd ever want to win 10 million. The pressure would just be too intense and I'd have to hide away from the crazy's. If you win, I'd love about 50 thousand. That'd do me fine. And I'd give you a thank you credit on my new album

I know an example of a British lottery winner who spent a large amount of his winnings making a record; producing it, publicising it, distributing it etc.... He thought the money behind it would make it a success. Unfortunately the song stank and sank into oblivion.Money does not make talent.
