The karma thing was really put in place as just something fun to do. Most people who are helpful and play nice with others have positive karma ratings. It's in most cases a good way to keep people from being jerks. All you have to do is get people to exalt you JD. If you have helped people, that shouldnt be too difficult to do, see I'll do one right now.

I think it's silly and juvenile. What it does is discourage honest opinions and points of view during the course of conversations. It also seems to promote high-schoolish "cool crowds" and "un-cool crowds." Most of us are adults here, I believe. Then again, maybe not! Ern P.S. I'm one post away from 1,300 posts. Oh Happy Happy Happy! Joy Joy Joy! Quite an accomplishment. Maybe I'll exalt myself!

If your dissenting views are expressed with respect, then it's unlikely you'll be smited (smote?). And if you are, you can surely make up for it with helpful comments in other posts. And if that doesn't happen, what's the big f'n deal? It's not like your song got rejected. Andre

Buddy Rich? No,wait, Buddy Miles? I feared to rant, lest I get karma bitten,Then saw Jimi's picture and was, instead, smitten. BTW, I agree with Gunter.

If the purpose of "Karma" is to make every member here benign Stepford Wives, then that's a bad thing IMHO. It's so much more fun to let people be who they are. And I'm not talking about being abusive, but being honest, creative, emotional, humorous. This forum is one of the mildest music hangs on the Internet. I personally think it would be a big mistake to make it moreso. That said, I really like and respect most of the people here! And I've been hanging around here since the early 70's. Ern
