Hi,We decided to order Vonage. Customer service says that our Vonage package will be shipped in 2-3 days. It arrives today... only there are 12 Vonage shipments, all identically addressed to me, stacked on my front porch. Two stacks of Vonage boxes waist high! I call customer service and after a lot of transfers from one department to another, they finally say "OK, open one box and DHL will pick up the rest". I open one box and the contents are for Vonage service placed by someone in Ohio (I'm in Missouri).I call them back because now we have 12 boxes with identical shipping labels addressed to me but the contents of each box is for 12 different customers, one of which is presumably me. This gets me transferred to twice as many departments as before. The matter is complicated by the fact that one of the items in each box is a piece of paper with sensitive account information for that particular customer. Do I send everything back and let them start over or do I open each box one at a time until I find my stuff? After finally getting to "advanced customer service" (makes you wonder about their "regular" customer service) and speaking with the supervisor's supervisor (or maybe his uncle), they finally decide to let me open each box one at a time until I find my stuff as long as I promise not to sell the customer account information I find in each open box on the black market to the highest bidder. That's a scary concept if the recipient of this stuff isn't me and is less clear on the concept of right vs wrong. I was happy at least that this was an unusual situation and no one really knew how to handle it. It would really be scary to hear them say "Oh yeah, this happens all the time." So, a mere three hours later and I'm almost ready to make unlimited long distance calls (on my account, if anyone is wondering). Dave

The upside is, if the phone companies are that screwed up, Shrub has no idea who he is spying on! Wait a minute, that was a given. Okay, the really scary part is...

A similar thing happened to me with ATT/Yahoo/SBC or whatever they call themselves. I ordered a DSL modem and they sent two packages. One was addressed to a different person in San Francisco (I'm in Oakland). I called and they said to leave it on my front porch and they'd pick it up, which they did a couple of days later.
