Quote:Any upside? It just a place to store your mp3. Can't really expect much from that though. If you're interested in getting some airplay and don't mind licensing a song or two as Creative Commons, you can try here:
http://music.podshow.com/I've found a lot new cool music there. It's where I get most of the music for our podcast.

Apart from Soundclick, do you guys recommend anywhere for FREE to upload a number of songs....for storage reasons mainly....

Wayyyyyy back in 2000 I got my first single deal because some young label guys were browsing MP3.com looking for new music and came across mine.I knew of a couple of similar situations back then but I don't think anyone does it now for the simple reason there are too many mp3 sites and too musch crap music on them. It's like wading through shit to get to a gem. Also, back then, there weren't many sites offering mp3 streams to the public...it was a novita. everyone was caught up in the new wave of MP3 technology. Now we have companies like Taxi, Raw42, Weed etc which actively get the music to the A&R people directly. The A&R people don't need to go trawling around MP3 sites to look for bands, these companies do the work for them. Also, I have a fair few friends who work in A&R for some big labels and they never look at MP3 sites. They will only be interested in a band/artist if that band/artist is making a buzz for themselves. In fact, they favour the old traditional method of going to gigs to hear the music, or listening to a CD demo, over MP3 sites. As guscave said, it's a good place to store your MP3's.If a label becomes interested then you have an easily accesible site for them to listen to more.......just don't expect them to come knocking without an invitation.
