Should I include ASCAP info in metadata ?

Hello,

I'm in the process of signing a deal with a library based in Europe.
They have the option of uploading the tracks to their site as an alternative to mailing cd's.
I plan on using my Soundcloud account for downloading. ( will handle AIF files )
My question is ; Should I only include the ISRC code or should I also add my SOCAN / ASCAP IPI # in the meta data area of my Souncloud info section ?
Most data areas don't show a spot for IPI # 's only the ISRC #.
All info will also be included in the contract which will be mailed in.

I have contacted the library regarding this, but I would like to know what the common practise is.

Thank You,
Rich Trevor

Hi Rich
I've never put ASCAP info in metadata but I can't see (off the top of my head) where it could hurt. It's probably overkill, though.

Regarding using Soundcloud for the library to download, I suggest you use a service like dropbox or yousendit. As much as I like Soundcloud, I find downloading slow and not always reliable. Dropbox has a free version that supports up to 2 GB (I think). You can put all the tracks in one zip file and provide the library a dropbox link.

Congrats on the deal! Best of luck!!

Hey Rich,
I always add the socan IPI # along with the songwriters shares(beside each songwriter).
Dropbox all the way!!! But then again, you know that :)

congrats on the deal!

For what it's worth I always put the ASCAP PRO name and IPI# in the composer section of metadata-encoded MP3s. I don't list it on the Soundcloud web page tags; just the file(s) themselves.

Thanks guy's.
The library contacted me and they have their own system to receive files. ( probably dropbox )
They also have a content section when you upload.
So I don't have to post downloadable files on my sound cloud page.
I'll definitely will put ISRC codes in and I'll add the socan info in the composer section.
