Hello Folks.
I have come across online some percussion samples posted as `free`which I would like to use in a track which could ultimately be placed in Film/TV.

They were made available on a site providing free drum loops etc. I have tried to find/contact the owner of the samples to ensure that I can use them in this way but have been unable to find the persons contact details or get clarification.
After further research on the site I found that these samples are licensed under a `Creative Commons Sampling +` license. I have found it hard to identify what this allows me to do with the samples and it seems that this type of license is no longer being issued.

Does anyone have any advice they could offer or experience with this?

If you are not selling or giving away the samples, and because 99.9% of licensed samples allow them to be used in music compositions(worthless if not), it really doesn't matter. If you are concerned that the samples were pirated, that would require the rights holder to prove that you didn't buy them and have a license. If a rights holder challenged everyone to show or prove their license every time they heard their samples in a song, nobody would buy their samples because of the harassment, and it would be a considerable waste of time for the rights holder besides.
Morally, if you have reason to suspect the samples were pirated and are suspicious of the creative commons license, don't use them. I think in your case you have already gone beyond due diligence in finding the source of the samples. That's my 2 cents.
