Work for Hire Listings & License Fees

Currently Taxi has a few listings worded something like this ...

... you'll receive a $400 Buy Out Fee, and it will be an EXCLUSIVE Work-for-Hire deal. You'll keep 100% of your Writer's share. The Library will get 100% of the Publishing rights ...

Question - This clearly addresses future ROYALTIES, but with a buy-out deal like this is it typical for the writer to share in future LICENSE fees, or not?

Thanks, Jim

Hi Jim
In a deal like this, typically you would not share in any future up-front license fees. The buyout fee covers that in one shot. However, you would get the Writer's share of any performance royalties for broadcast use.

(Caveat: Unless the contract says otherwise... Talking "Typical" deal of this kind)
