Can anyone tell me what is the average going rate to do a fully produced song for a client?

Don't know about average going rates, but you could consider benchmarking with demostudios (as that would be your competition)? Put about 20% on top of their fees and you have the price for a WFH master. Here's prices from one Nashville demostudio as an example http://www.magicshackdemos.com/Shop.html

look at Studiopros.com as well. they are like $1250 for a whole production including mix etc.

for a pure Work For Hire production - it would be hard to charge less than $500 and feel like the amount of hours you put into it was somewhat equitable to the price going out the door. Especially if you played all the stuff / most of the stuff, mixed, mastered etc.

if its all live, then if you pay 5 players $75 each (or whatever it is) plus your time recording and preparing a chart and mixing etc. it kind of works out the same. That's if you have your own room and gear. If you had to hire a room for a live session, you would be doing it for free.

just my 2 cents.

Thanks guys. It'll be something where I play everything in my house. I've got a great singer who owes me some favors so that won't cost any thing. And it's a co-write. So you've given some idea what to charge on it. Thanks.
