The Power of The "Follow-Up"

Hey, friends! I emailed an attorney on 11/30 who I'd met at the Road Rally. He wrote back saying he liked what he heard and wanted to hear more of my music. So I sent him another playlist of songs, and I didn't hear back. I sent a follow-up today checking in with him and he instantly said "Hi sorry got swamped thanks for resending will check out asap"

SEND YOUR FOLLOW-UPS!! I could've gone the rest of my life thinking he hated the second batch of songs if I hadn't sent him another email. :)

Thanks for the connection, Michael & the Road Rally!

Kate

ps - I finished my new music video! Ch ch check it out if you'd like. -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1RnEkChp_4

Clever artist name - I like it! Good advice too, I know I need to be better at that. Like the video effects too.

Thanks, guys! I stuck with it - he liked my music and is now representing me/pitching me for opportunities. Send your follow ups!

Follow-ups are good in this instance as a relationship had already begun, and checking in is totally reasonable as the person concerned had specifically asked for a submission. Congrats Kate!

In the case of a Forward from Taxi, or in circumstances where you have made an unsolicted pitch, I think follow-ups can be damaging. If they want your track, they will contact you.
