Anyone know what they mean? sometimes I might have a sample in a track from say Sample Magic which I purchased and have license to use commercially.

I know the library your submitting to and yes, even if you mark YES for this option, it doesn't negatively impact the submission or make anything difficult.

Samples, loops etc... which you buy nearly always come with commercial licenses and are meant to be used in productions (just not re-sold again as samples). So you're safe to simply mark YES and continue forward.

Samples Are Buyouts: Yes

Looks like if you say No it implies you did not purchase the sample pack and therefore have no license. That would be a copyright problem..and a automatic rejection. I assume.

The previous question in the submission asks for unlawful samples.

This question you are wondering about, I am not sure what it is actually useful for, as most samples are totally in the clear if used in the context of an entire arrangement submitted to a library, except for BigFish and you can get a written waiver for those. Some samples cannot be used in a naked fashion (i.e. East West drum samples that might be exposed in a solo fashion in the instrumental version of a song like Lourde's Royals).

Agree with the guys. The end user may need to know if they can use particular stems from the project in isolation.

True but if you didn't purchase a sample pack and also have no license I think they would reject a submission on just that. But then again yes within some of these sample packs they include melodies or even demos. I write my own melodies and tend to stay away from most of that stuff. I like the fx and some of the drum stuff which are necessary for edm tracks.

I've wondered about the "exposed in isolation" that Andy mentioned. Since the agreements usually say "must be used with at least one other 'thing'" I've wondered about having a beat or two here and there where the "sample" is isolated.

I've made sure to specially stay away from exposing the licenses sample in the intro and ending... but in the middle? hmmmm

Hey Russell, I think what they mean is you are ok using it within a composition of your own. but not by itself. You know about that reverse crash a lot of people use at the intro of tracks. thats exposed by itself within the composition.
