Necessary to. Get certain kinds of royalties.

Can't really add more detail other than I have gotten a few hundred bucks over the last few years.

I registered, but only saw like 50 bucks one time, I have registered all my albums with them.. but nada so far.

The question is do we let them collect internationally, Some new opt in mandate, if the songs are signed with a publisher, wouldn't a publisher do that?

Basically yes. The money will never get to you via your pro as far as I understand.

Yes; SoundExchange collects internet performance royalties, PROs only do broadcast, cable and in some cases live performance royalties. Bear in mind, musicians and producers also earn internet performance royalties, not just the writers/publishers.

Let me ask then, does registering with SoundExchange in any way cause trouble with any license deals, either exclusive or non? Is there any compelling reason to not register? What about the international op-in?

I've been with SoundExchange since Sept of 2014 and now they're one of my most consistent sources of income. About 99% of it comes from Pandora plays. Of course, it helps that I now have 6 albums on there, all piano based. But odd thing is... with 70 songs on Pandora, I only make significant money from about 6 songs that stream more than all the others. One song has had over 500,000 plays.

Don't ask me how their Gnome Project works in selecting which songs are played. Also, make sure you register as rights owner as well as artist. It's all a numbers game. Just got my statement for the past month and it was down compared to the 2 previous months.

I do get royalties from Pandora in my BMI account but it's a small amount compared to SoundExchange. I'm trying to get music on SiriusXM that they cover also. Sent them a CD but have yet to hear back.
