Forgive me if you all have covered this already.

If a piece of music has been granted a "creative commons" license does the music still earn PRO royalties or any sync fees, etc.? I have quite a few pieces of music on websites like SoundClick, for example, which I checked the "Creative Commons" box. Thanks, again for your help. - Larry

I don't know enough about 'creative commons' to answer your question, but what I do know about it is there appears to be no way to withdraw a track from CC; this means your copyright could be in limbo for most uses that involve earning anything.

I think the overall jist is that if your work is used in commercial and not private use, you are entitled to royalties. But there are many, many details and 6 different licenses.

In your case, it probably allows the website immunity from royalties because it is sharing and not selling your songs? But if someone would do a cover of your song to use commercially and make money, they would not be immune to paying royalties. That's my guess.

M'yeah, not to mention the entire Creative Commons paradigm was designed by people whose true aim is to drown copyrights in the metaphorical bathtub of history. (I mean, what the hey; we got along fine without 'em for literally centuries!-SARCASM alert) It's been quite a while since I read the fine print, but suffice to say, I have released approximately zero content under CC. Wait, no; it's exactly zero.
