Having been in this biz for over 3 years now, I've joined quite a number of libraries and had music placed by them and even composed specifically for their needs for some of them. Many get me placements that have done pretty well. But then I never hear from some of these libraries again. I will email them asking how things are and they'll say they're busy. When I inquire if they need more music they usually say they have enough. Just wondering if complete lack of action from libraries you once had action with is a common thing? One library I placed many tracks with for retail store use finally told me this week (after I asked) that I made $186 in royalties after more than 2 years of nothing.

Is it common to have multiple signed tracks that do not perform? Yes. That's why it's quality + quantity.

It's absolutely common, and the prevailing opinion is that one should be careful about calling, texting or otherwise bugging your clients; if they're too busy to talk to you, that's good news, and you're time is better spent feeding the hopper, which is why we say (altogether, now) "Write, submit, forget, repeat!"
