Starting Out Question

I would like to start as I mean to go on, so...

I'm starting from ground zero at it were, and I'm new to all this  do you think it is beneficial to have/use a company name or an artist name when applying for listings? Or doesn't it really matter?

I aim to pick a listing, songs or cues and go for that in the genre of Rock: indie rock/alternative rock type stuff :|

Any guidance at this stage is appreciated. :D

Thanks for reading

Are you submitting to Film/TV or artist listings?

I agree that it isn't as important at this stage - especially if you are doing the film/tv route. If you are doing the Artist track, than I can see more of an argument for going with your name over company name, as you might as well start building that name up as you go along. If you are more interested in being an engineer for other artists, maybe a company name makes more sense.

But, it is more important to focus on writing and submitting; then learn from your returns and celebrate your forwards.

My only recommendation is you pick one and stick with it. Not that you can't change up later, but you start to build a rep and a "brand" as you move forward and why not build that a bit as you go?

I have a company name, but I really do everything under my personal name.

I'm not sure what the benefit would be to using a company name. As you know, you cannot submit to TAXI listings on behalf of anyone unless you are a co-writer of the music.

I'm still deciding. I hope to make a decision soon and get stuck in. ;)
